Drew Barrymore, Oprah Winfrey, Christina Aguilera, Shia Labeouf and Rihanna. What do these celebrities have in common? They have all experienced hardships as youth, (like drug and alcohol addiction, abuse, family difficulties, etc.), yet they were able to overcome their obstacles and move in a more positive direction. They have taken the necessary steps to rehabilitate not only their body, but their soul. And guess what? You can too.

Regardless of the issues*, big or small, you may be dealing with (legal, mental health, aggression, addiction, family issues, etc) there are countless resources, people and organizations available in your community that can help. If you know someone who may be dealing with something, let them know that there are people who can help. Here are just some options where you can go to seek help in a safe, understanding and/or professional environment:

Remember that it is never too late to take the initiative to better yourself. By improving your sense of self and creating goals, you can get back on track towards a proactive lifestyle. Embracing and doing what you love and are passionate about are also good outlets for frustration (for example: painting, hiking or maybe even boxing!). Also, know that you are not alone; a lot of youth may be dealing with the same kinds of issues you are. When you are prepared to make the change, you will know that the time is right to seek help.

“You can overcome anything. It takes having an obstacle to learn and grow” – Orlando Bloom (People)
