Town Youth Participation Strategies (TYPS): social networking for youth centers!
Written by Erin Mulvihill on 03/02/10
Are you part of a youth centre in your community or looking to start one up? Want to get connected with other youth centers across Canada? Then check out TYPS (Town Youth Participation Strategies).
TYPS works with individual youth, youth centers and community youth initiatives to support youth engagement in their communities around issues of concern. They work with youth centers across the country, providing them with materials and manuals to keep established youth centers growing, and to help new ones get off the ground.
TYPS holds an annual conference, which means 4 days of leadership training, learning new skills, meeting people from across Canada, linking with other youth centers and most importantly – 4 days of fun! Learn more and get involved now by visiting the TYPS website.

As the CPO (Community Program Officer) for District 11 in New Brunswick, I have been working closely with the the staff at TYPS for the past 2 years.
TYPS has been able to provide our rural communities (adults and youth) with training, learning opportunities and best practices in order to maintain healthy youth groups and activities.
We have also been able to send some of our youth representatives to their annual conference in Ottawa and will attempt to do so again this year.
TYPS has many tools needed to help groups get funding, media attention, fundraising ideas, programming ideas, constitution and guidelines…
Well worth building a relationship with TYPS as they strive to connect various youth groups and resources together.
