You know how we often discuss the subject of Internet safety in our blogs and knowzone? One of the most important rules to help keep you safe online is to always report messages, websites and/or pictures you suspect to be associated with sexual exploitation. It can range from someone asking you to send a provocative picture of yourself, someone sending you an inappropriate picture of themselves, pictures of children/youth partially or fully naked, encouraging you to do things that make you uncomfortable, threatening to blackmail you as a result of things you may have done online, encouraging you to participate in prostitution, etc. If you come across any messages, pictures or even people that make you feel uncomfortable, you should report it to Cybertip.ca immediately. Cybertip.ca is the Canadian website for reporting sexual exploitation of children and youth. They deal with cases of child/youth sexual abuse images/videos, online luring, exploitation through prostitution, travelling to sexually exploit children/youth and child/youth trafficking (Cybertip.ca).

Cybertip.ca receives an average of 700 reports per month and when they suspect illegal online activity has occurred, the report is sent to the police for further investigation. Don’t forget to stay safe online and report all online behaviour that may be related to child/ youth sexual exploitation at Cybertip.ca.
