The RCMP Is On The ‘Tube!

…YouTube that is!
For those of you who weren’t aware, last summer the Royal Canadian Mounted Police created its own channel on YouTube. Here, the RCMP posts videos of all sorts of cool things relating to policing and the organization, and users can even post comments and send messages to those in charge of the YouTube channel!
What’s Not To Like?
In addition to the millions of videos available to us on YouTube, there are so many other things that it has to offer. So it’s no wonder organizations like the RCMP, Health Canada, and Veterans Affairs Canada (among others) would want to be a part of it; it helps get the message out there about specific topics that are important to their organizations! Here are just some of the many resources available on YouTube;
- The ability to create your own channel for free, especially if you are a non-profit charity or organization who wants to spread the word about your program and/or campaign.
- No computer? No problem! YouTube is available through your cell phone with Wi-Fi internet access (for example on your iPhone® or BlackBerry®), and also through your television if you have a gaming console with an internet connection.
- There is even a section specifically for music videos and it gives you the ability to search for exactly what you’re looking for.
- YouTube also has its own “Safety Centre” which provides factsheets for its users pertaining to online issues, such as; teen safety, privacy, harassment and cyberbullying, along with info on hateful content, etc.

One awesome video on the RCMP YouTube channel, looks at its policing initiatives all across Canada and the world. By clicking here, you will be able to see a little preview of the dedication and teamwork that our officers give forth in policing, as it highlights the involvement the RCMP has in our communities, along with its domestic and international partners. You can also check out this video, which demonstrates the RCMP’s northern policing initiatives as shown on the television show “Courage in Red.” This TV program looks at different aspects of RCMP policing that make it the outstanding police force it is today. What a cool video!
