Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)

Sexually transmitted infections  (STIs) are infections that people get through sexual contact, including sexual intercourse. They are not the same thing as a genital disease: most STIs do involve the genitals. STIs are transmitted from person to person by exchanging semen, blood or other bodily fluids or by direct sexual contact. Another name for STIs is venereal diseases, although this term is not commonly used.
