Issue: Drugs and Alcohol
Why? There are a lot of kids in our community that choose to do drugs and alcohol

Well so far all my plans have worked out good. I am having my first presentation at Gimli High School on May 25th.

I have a survey completed by 200 of the high school students. So far I have a representative from MADD, and a student who is 16 and has started a TADD group at her high school, doing presentations for me. I have visual materials to show the students as well. All I have left to do for the May presentation is to do the final planning (the order all the presenters will be in and inserting the visuals in to the presentations). I am planning on doing a second presentation as well at the Middle School sometime in September. Jason St. Pierre, the RCMP officer that is helping me has managed to get a Winnipeg Jets player to come and present at my September presentation. Jason has been very dedicated to helping me with all aspects of my presentation. My mom has helped me make up my survey and also did the results of the survey for me. I have to get a couple of students to help me with the set up of the presentation at the high school. Our vice principal has been helpful giving us the time to do the presentation and also letting me do the photo copying for the surveys. Jason, my family and my school are behind me 100 %.

What issue did you choose to address in your Action Plan?

The issue that i chose was drugs and alcohol.

Why did you choose that issue?

I chose this issue because there are a lot of kids in our community that choose to do drugs and alcohol. Because they are drinking and doing drugs it is making them make bad choices in other parts of their life.

How are you going to address the selected issue?

I am going to address this issue by doing presentations to grades 5 to 8 kids, which is where i feel that the choices to do drugs and drink start. We hope to get some well known UFC fighters to come and help with the presentations.

What do you hope to achieve in the next year?

I hope to get everything organized and booked for the following school year. I would like to have my project ready for September 2012.

What progress have you made so far?

The progress i have made so far is thinking about the best way to go about doing this, just a basic outline. I will be meeting with Constable Jason St Pierre very soon to start putting it into action.
